Ledger wallets from an Asian reseller arrived with a tenant inside: an implant that has drained over $86 million

On October 9, users in Southeast Asia began reporting emptied wallets. On-chain analyst Specter estimates more than $86 million stolen across Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tron, and everyone affected had bought their Ledger from the same reseller, CryptoBilis, which operates in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Ledger has asked the shop to halt sales and shipments while it investigates.

Ledger itself confirms it found unauthorized hardware implants in some devices, though it says its own systems were not breached. Anyone who bought there in the last 90 days is advised not to initialize an unused wallet and, if they already did, to move their funds to a new device with a new recovery phrase. The total figure and the exact method remain unconfirmed.
