An 18-year-old doing sewer construction work found $10 million in gold hidden inside the wall of an old Belgian brewery

On August 13, 2026, Kobe, an 18-year-old student, was working alongside colleagues installing a sewer line at the former Brouwershuis brewery in Sint-Gillis-Dendermonde, Belgium, when they found a wooden chest hidden behind a cellar wall: inside were 49 gold bars and roughly 4,000 gold coins, worth an estimated 9 million euros. Instead of splitting it up or trying to walk off with it, the workers called the police directly.
