A raccoon roamed a Dallas neighborhood for days with a mayonnaise jar stuck on its head, dodging every rescue attempt
Neighbors in a Dallas, Texas neighborhood spent days watching a young raccoon, nicknamed "Mayo," wander around with a mayonnaise jar completely wedged onto its head, unable to remove it or see where it was going. Animal control finally spotted it up a tree next to an abandoned house and waited patiently for it to climb down on its own so they could grab it from behind. Once at Dallas Animal Services, they sedated it, removed the jar, and gave it fluids: aside from dehydration from days without normal food or water, it turned out to be in surprisingly good shape and full of energy. It's now recovering at a wildlife center before being released back into its habitat.
