Hackers locked every Starlink ground station in the world and demanded $500 million in Bitcoin, but Elon Musk replied within a minute with a "Neural-Auto-Patch"

In late September 2026 the same text resurfaced on X, paired with a video of Musk next to hooded figures and green code: a hacker group had supposedly locked "all Starlink ground stations worldwide" and demanded $500 million in Bitcoin "or the world goes offline." According to the post, Musk replied a minute later that his automatic patch had routed the whole operation through a dead-end satellite in deep orbit.

Why it's false: It's a recycled script, not news. Starlink's status page logs no incident on the dates cited, and a worldwide lock of ground stations would have been noticed by millions of users. The reply doesn't exist on Musk's account, and "Neural-Auto-Patch" appears in no SpaceX material. There is also no payment address or transaction: $500 million in Bitcoin would leave a public trace on-chain. What did happen was an arson fire at a ground station in Poland on September 23, which Polish prosecutors are investigating as possible sabotage, a separate case with no crypto ransom.
